We love the location. This end of Waikiki is on the quiet side away from the night clubs and major shopping areas. But still close enough to walk to. It is easy to get in and out of Waikiki from this side with affordable parking in the building. Parking is tight and a challenge to park here with a minivan. The trunk hatch hit the low ceiling supports. The rooms have a kitchen. ABC stores are everywhere for quick supplies. A few blocks down on Kuhio is a Food Pantry. Rooms have queen size beds. The rooms have nice furniture with a more modern look. We had a flat panel TV in the living room and another TV in the bedroom connected to cable service. Coin operated washer and dyers are on the floor. Four small size elevators service some 34 floors. Keep in mind that at certain times of the day more people will be using the elevators then other. We had to wait a bit when people were checking in or out. Or when everyone was starting their day the same time we were. After those times it was fairly easy getting up and down. Due to the economy complementary coffee was for the first day only. You have to pay for additional days. Local newspaper is left outside your door each morning. The swimming pool is small and on the shallow side. You have to bring your own towel. In the early evening as the sunsets, the building will cast a shadow over the pool. And if the ocean breezes kicks up it can become quite chilly. You pay for internet service in the room. It is connected by an Ethernet cable supplied in the room. Free wireless was available on the 6th floor.

Stayed in the upper section that has been re-furbished. Very nice, very clean and comfortable. Hotel had on-site parking. Only down side is that there are only 4 elevators for a 35 story condo/hotel and you may wait for as long as 4/5 minutes, (but I don't live in an apartment, so maybe it's normal). Would recommend for family stay, especially for the price. Staff was very good.

Very nice hotel. Not too far from the beach, but definitely not just 2 blocks. The distance is very walkable without too much effort. If you decide to swim in the hotel pool expect it to be "REALLY COLD". Our suggestion to the hotel is to heat this water up a bit. The ocean water was warmer. The brochure says kids 17 & under eat free. There is not a restaurant in this hotel. This deal is for you to use at other Aston properties. We asked which ones & where & we were directed to a restaurant. This restaurant didn't honor the kids eat free deal. Our advice, if you are going to use this, to ask first before you are seated & order your food. The hotel is in the middle of remodeling, but we did not see or hear any construction work that bothered us when we were out & about or sleeping. The rooms we had were in need of a coat of paint, but very acceptable to us. They were very clean & comfortable. We asked for a rollaway to be delivered & were promised one several times, but this never showed up. We did not get charged for one either. The Pleasant Holiday desk was probably the most disappointing part of our hotel stay. The 2 different people who were there (2 different times) were really worthless. We found out more from reading the brochures than what they seemed to know. We asked about an orientation breakfast, but never found out where, what time, how long, transportation to & from and what was included in this. We also asked about "The Bus" system & were told to ask the drivers of "The Bus". The Bus is a really great way to get around the "whole" island. This doesn't cost much ($*-$*) per person & ask for a return trip transfer. Our stay at this Aston Waikiki Sunset hotel was very acceptable for the price paid & we would tell others to come & stay (if you want a hotel close to the beach). Our suggestion is to stay farther away & take the bus to the beach if you are more cost conscious.

We stayed here with our kids and in-laws in March. The price enabled us to get three rooms and spread out a little. Overall, we were happy with the rooms. Only a couple of blocks from Waikiki beach and other major attractions, but also out of the way. The rooms were reasonably clean and comfortable but nothing spectacular. There is a convenience store in the building which really is handy and priced reasonably. We did not use the kitchens, but they appeared to be decent although minimally stocked. Also, some may find that the kitchens are not as clean as they may like primarily because of their age and a little bit of build up on the cabinets over time. Staff were friendly and overall our experience was good.

We stayed here 4 days. The hotel has a good location and very friendly staff. The room was a little older than I expected it to be but wasn't that bad. We had the mountain view and it was beautiful.
